Description: Antique c1720 Edo Period Japanese Arita Scalloped 22.3cm Chrysanthemum Bowl A/F A wonderful example of an early eighteenth century Edo period 22.3cm fluted chrysanthemum-form porcelain bowl. Hand-decorated in an Imari style typical of pieces made in Arita for export to the markets of the West. Painted with chrysanthemums and blossoms in two shades of green, red, yellow, manganese-purple and underglaze blue with gilt detailing. Sadly the bowl has been broken but has a wonderful antique repair with NINETEEN staples - the most I've ever seen in a single piece! There is also a very small missing nick at the rim at the top of one of the repaired cracks. Please see pictures for more information. The bowl is 22.3cm diameter, 10cm high and weighs 936g.
