Freedom-Walk is a simple yet extremely effective hand-crafted brace and is: Now More Durable & Easily Adjustable with more Options and Ease. Small, Lightweight, and Comfortable. Inconspicuous and Discrete, Adjustable, and Durable. It can be worn in any terrain and is waterproof. Replaces those horribly uncomfortable stiff plastic old style AFO type braces. Works with virtually all types of foot ware. (Works best with shoes with eye holes, but it is not necessary.) Plus, Freedom Walk AFO is easy to attach and detach. Simply put the brace around your ankle and hook the tension cords to your shoe's eye holes or other appropriate area and you're off and walking, care free. Adjust tension by hooking to various eye holes. Best of all Freedom Walk AFO provides only vertical support allowing for full ankle joint mobility in all directions. You no longer have to confine yourself to the restrictions of the old-fashioned type Orthosis braces. Because of periodic design improvements, not all pictures may be an exact copy of the brace received. Freedom Walk AFO is one size fits all: The brace will fit most sizes as is but may need to be adjusted a bit for very small sizes or children's sizes. See Tips #4 information below regarding Rivet Kit for additional help with attachment options. In addition, I have currently finalized a design for a special Bare-Foot Strap that can be used with the Freedom Walk Brace (Freedom Walk Bare-Foot Strap), which allows for walking barefooted. CREATOR'S INSPIRATION I had worn the old-fashioned style Orthotic braces for over twenty years, hating virtually every minute of it. A few years ago, my wife and I planned a trip to Hawaii, and I was determined not to wear uncomfortable, hot and sweaty plastic braces while I walked on a beautiful sandy beach. This determination gave me the inspiration to create this new brace. My life has been changed forever. My hope is that Freedom Walk AFO will make your life better in the same way! Give it a try! If you would like to be informed of future product developments or improvements, please ask to be added to our email list. Sincerely, Chris PRODUCT INFORMATION Freedom Walk AFO is made from various brass and nickel-plated metal components and shock cord along with 3mm Neoprene and Toughtek PE+ Neoprene. They have worked for most of the users, but a few people have not been able to benefit from the brace (I do apologize). I have 100% drop foot in my left foot and about 75%-80% in my right foot and I have been wearing these (and many other prototypes) for several years). I do admit that they do not provide as much support as the plastic type brace and have had to get used to that. I must be slightly more conscious in lifting my feet, but over time that became normal. It also took a month or two before I was able to wear them full time. It takes time to build up the strength in the back of the ankle and I had to wear my sock rolled down or just some type of extra cloth or other padding for a month or so until the strength was build up. I was then able to wear the brace at a tighter setting which provided enough more support which required less thought into keeping my foot up. All this was worth not having to wear those plastic things. But with the padding (you should notice your ankle getting stronger week by week) and ability to wear the brace tighter when the ankle is stronger, it should work for even a few more people. Because of the time it may take to get used to the brace (some get used to quite quickly) that is why I am offer a 30 day return policy. If you feel that you are getting close to it working but need just a little more time, contact me and I could willing to discuss things with you and even extend the refund policy by a couple weeks. I can't deny that it is nice to make a few dollars out of this, but I get such a bigger charge out of hearing that the brace works better than what these people where using. Nobody should have to wear those horrid plastic braces, especially a child. I know these still can't work with everybody, but I hope with taking it slow in the beginning and the other tips, that more people will be able to benefit from these braces. I hope this will explain some perspective. SAFETY, LIABILITY AND COMFORT The Freedom Walk AFO ankle foot Orthosis (AFO) provides dorsi flexion support (lifting of the forefoot) for individuals with foot drop syndrome or symptoms. No support is provided to the foot/ankle in other directions normally part of ankle joint full range of motion. The Freedom Walk AFO is designed to assist in walking or hiking but is NOT recommended for use that may require precise foot, ankle and toe control. If any medical condition other than foot drop exists, do not use the Freedom Walk AFO without getting a doctor or therapist's approval to use. Effectiveness and comfort are determined by how this devise is applied. A break-in period may be required where you should begin by wearing the Freedom Walk AFO for short periods of time until you get used to it. I can now wear them comfortably for 10+ hours at a time. The Freedom Walk AFO can be worn comfortably and will vary by individual, whether or not you are wearing socks, and the type of terrain in which you are walking or hiking. New users of the Freedom Walk AFO should experiment to determine your own personal schedule. If discomfort occurs, use of this devise should be discontinued temporarily. I wear my Freedom Walk AFO foot brace with tennis shoes, hiking shoes, sandals, dress shoes and have found any additional wear to the shoe to be minimal. Pant legs easily hide the brace. A doctor's opinion should be sought prior to using any orthopedic device. Although durable, the Freedom Walk AFO fabric and components will wear over time. For safety, comfort and appearance, the user should periodically inspect the device components, and the components' attachments to the shoe, to identify and make repairs, if needed. If the device components are worn beyond the point of repair, the worn Freedom Walk AFO should be replaced. Freedom Walk AFO cannot control the design, materials, workmanship or condition of the foot ware worn by the purchaser. Therefore, we are not responsible for any damage, injuries or product failure resulting from failure of the shoe material where a Freedom Walk AFO has been attached or where it may rub against the foot ware. An alterations of a Freedom Walk AFO component, or any application other than that illustrated and discussed with us is a misuse or misapplication of the device and could void your warranty. Freedom Walk AFO, the manufacturer, is not liable for injuries or damages from misuse or misapplication of the device. TIPS FOR USING 'FREEDOM WALK AFO' DROP FOOT BRACE (AFO) ORTHOSIS 1. TIGHTEN all shoe laces or straps very well. Take it slow in the beginning. The back of the ankle can become sore until you build up some strength in that area. Start off wearing for just a couple hours or less at a time. After several weeks, I was able them up to 12 hours at a time. If it ever feels sore, remove as soon as possible to give the ankle time to rest. I also find that a crew sock folded over, making three layers of sock between the brace and the skin can help reduce soreness. 2. Try and hook to corresponding eye holes in your shoes and adjust whole strap so that the tension on the cords are equal. If you are unable to maintain corresponding eye holes for subtle adjustments, you can offset hooks by one eye hole, but make sure the tension on the cords are equal. 3. You can make your own holes in leather, or similar durable material, with an ice pick or similar hole punch device. 4. For the more industrious or those who have an industrious friend willing to help you: You can get a hole punch at your local hardware store for about $10 to create your new eye holes where the support tension is best or you could put a rivet in the hole with two links of #7 Hobby Clock Chain and use the extra link to hook the brace to, making taking it on and off much easier. You should also use some #6 washers for spacers, if the shoe material is too thin, and extra durability. I stick a piece of wood into the shoe or under a sandal strap to hammer the rivets. I offer a Rivet Kit for an additional $5, which includes 4 rivets, 4 '2-link' chains, & 8 washers. (You must provide your own tools which include a hammer and maybe some needle nose pliers and a hole punch - note that a hole must be punched prior to putting in a rivet). Just send the additional $5 immediately after purchase of the brace, via PayPal as a separate payment and I'll include the kit in the brace mailing. 5. Give me a call or email if you have any specific questions or concerns or trouble you might be having with getting you brace(s) to work with a certain type of shoe. WARRANTY DETAILS 1.
