William Clouser Boyd (1903 – 1983) was an American immunochemist (the study of the chemistry of the immune system). In the 1930s, with his wife Lyle, he made a worldwide survey of the distribution of blood types. Dr. Boyd was an expert in many fields, widely known for the range of his expertise. He wrote textbooks in both immunology and anthropology and was an accomplished linguist, mushroom collector and writer, publishing both technical books and works of science fiction. Dr. William C. Boyd was the forty-third president of the American Association of Immunologists, serving from 1959 to 1960. He spent his entire career at the Boston University School of Medicine, where he was appointed the school’s first professor of immunochemistry in 1948. "He discovered that blood groups are inherited and not influenced by environment. By genetic analysis of blood groups he hypothesised that human races are populations that differ by alleles. On that basis, he divided the world population into 13 geographically distinct races with different blood group gene profiles." This book envisages a raceless world in the sense that the average man understands race today. Unlike skin color or stature, the blood groups do not shade into one another but always distinguishable "all-or-none" characteristics. This book is In Great vintage Condition!
