Click images to enlarge Description Up for Consideration is a Beautiful Small Late Revolutionary War Era Southern Carved "Banded" Priming Shot / Powder Horn, Tacked with Scrimshaw Border Motif! c1775-1810 Offered to you is this Amazing Quality late Revolutionary War to War of 1812 Era Southern American made Carved Banded Priming / Shot Powder Horn with nice scrimshaw trim decoration by rear plug. Scrimshaw Priming Horn measuring approximately 8.5 inches long with spout plug and iron staple. The Tapered Wood Base plug measures 1.50 inches wide. Completely Untouched and in fine original condition. Nicely Carved Spout and nice Dark Tan to Dark Brown Patina. A Small Powder or Priming Horn possibly could have been cut of from a larger body but its doubtful. Just a Fabulous looking banded design most often coming out of the southern states. A beautiful Shot/Powder Horn from top to bottom! Plug has a period Iron Staple. We believe this came out of Virginia and was used in the Revolutionary War but could have been used into the early 19th century. Condition is Very Good, a Solid Powder Horn with usual light scratches, soiling , slight chipping (at band) and small dings.(Note Images) The Horn is filled with original "Lead" Shot and will be shipped to you that way! This is an Ex-Museum Piece which had previously been on display in a Private Collection in Worcester, Massachusetts for many years!
