Description: An original WW2 rare Official U.S. Army Signal Corps Photo showing the scene of death and destruction in Italy. There is no date or indication of the place. The last photo is one that I found on the Oklahoman website showing a picture of the 45th ID marching through Italy (this photo is not included, just for reference only). It was in the paper on 7/8/1945 and I believe I see the same mountain in the background, so I believe this photo (the first one) is of soldiers from the 45th Infantry division. May be Alban Hills or somewhere outside of Rome, in the early summer of 1944. Text of the attached caption below: Watch Your Credit Official U.S. Army Signal Corps Photo Washington, D.C. American Dead in Italy This scene of death and destruction is in Italy. The two blanket-covered bodies of American soldiers lie beside the road on which they are riding in a half-track when attacked by German airmen. A direct bomb hit blasted the crater shown, killed the men, and wrecked the vehicle. Note mess gear piled in the foreground. The photo measures 10 X 8 inches. J1119-A
